COMPETITION JUDGES

Andre Bourque

     Andre, a resident of Millis, MA, has been a camera club member for over 20 years. He has competed at Stony Brook Camera Club in the AA level, receiving many awards for his outstanding work. Currently Andre has gone digital, and he took this new venture to a very high level by presenting a totally digital, highly creative show at NECCC in the summer of 2004. This show has also been presented at camera clubs in the eastern states. Andre has conducted workshops on digital imaging and has had gallery shows of his beautiful prints.

     Recent awards are: Black & White Print of the Year, 2002/2003 - Stony Brook CC., First place winner NECCC model print competition (his winning photo was used on the cover of the 2003 Speaker’s notes for NECCC), and theDouglas H Wanser Memorial Award for the best black & white portrait, 1992. Andre continues to create unique photo shows and win awards for his photographic prints.

     Andre has judged on the local camera club level as well as at NECCC and PSA competitions.

Dan Charbonnet

     Dan has been seriously involved in photography since he joined his first camera club in 1973. He is active in PSA, currently serving as Director in the Nature division and as commentator for color and nature slide study groups. His knowledge of nature is exceptional, and he serves as the "identifier" of nature subjects for PSA. He can also tell you about habits and habitat of almost any of the many species that are the subjects of the PSA nature salon entries. Dan belongs to PSA, Stony Brook Camera Club, Greater Lynn Camera Club, Boston Camera Club, and Mass. Camera Naturalists, and has served many of these clubs as an officer. In PSA exhibitions, Dan has reached top limits in the color slide division, with impressive star ratings in Nature, Photo Travel and Photojournalism. He has also been awarded over 40 medals in international competition. Added to his club participation, Dan is also a judge, lecturer and author.

Rick Cloran

     Rick is a sought-after judge and lecturer throughout the United States and Canada. Twice, Rick received the prestigious Kodak Kinsley “Glass Eagle” award, and his published work has appeared in Nature Photographer magazine and the Journal of the Photographic Society of America. His associations include Greater Lynn Photographic Ass. (having served as president and treasurer), PSA, North American Nature Photographers Assn, Mass Camera Naturalists and the former Yankee Photographic Society. Attendees of the latter’s Potpourri of Photography events in the fall and spring would have benefited from Ricks presentations at these events. For his extensive judging, lecturing and administrative work in support of local, regional and national photographic organizations, Rick has been awarded the designations of FPSA (Fellow Photographic Society of America), EPSA (PSA’s Excellence in Photography for his exhibition record), and MNEC (Master Member of the NE Camera Club Council).

Greg Crisci

Greg has been a member of the Boston Camera club for over 20 years, and has served as treasurer for that organization. He is also a member of the Mass Camera Naturalists, an exclusive "invitation only" club whose members must demonstrate that they produce quality nature images, and have a strong regard and respect for nature subjects. He is past chairman and current treasurer of this organization. In addition, he has judged and lectured at various camera clubs and produced a program for NECCC in Amherst. He has received a Gold Medal at NECCC for the best New England entry. Greg’s photos have appeared in magazines and catalogues.

Kent Crossley

     Kent joined Stony Brook Camera Club with a number of other people from the Photo Society of Rhode Island. Kent is a versatile photographer with expertise in model photography, and he works with model set-ups for the former Yankee Photographic Society and for NECCC. He is also an excellent nature and scenic photographer, and produces some beautiful special effects images as well. Kent is currently a member of the Photographic Society of Rhode Island and the Mass Camera Naturalists, and is a past member of Stony Brook Camera Club, Boston Camera Club and Fall River Camera Club. His helpful, but careful, commentary has taught us a great deal about creating better photographs.

John Fuller

     John has the honor of being awarded "Fellow" in the Photographic Society of America, "Master" member of New England Camera Club, and "Artiste" of the International Federation of the Art of Photography. These honors are awarded for years of dedicated service to each organization. He is a multi-star exhibitor in PSA in color, nature and photojournalism.

     John is a founding member of Stony Brook Camera Club, Honorary member of Photographic Society of America, and member of Mass Camera Naturalists, Boston Camera Club, and North American Nature Photographers Association. He has served as an officer in most of these organizations, as well as acting as a judge, lecturer, exhibitor, and workshop presenter. He has been published in many notable magazines, newspapers and calendars.

     The 2010 NECCC conference was dedicated to John, honoring his many years of active involvement and dedication to photography.

Stan Godwin

     Stan was an Associate Professor of Photography at Texas A&M-Commerce (TAMU-C) where he was employed for 30 years. He taught a large variety of courses including, Basic B&W, Color, Nature and Wildlife, Visual Perception and Digital Imaging. At retirement Stan was the Interim Head of the Art Department. Stan has taught over 30 workshops, continues to shoot professionally and personally, and was the lead for one of the first 5 digital programs in a US university.

     In 2005 Stan received the “Star of Texas” award for his lengthy contribution to photographic education. His photographic work has been published in hundreds of magazines, newspapers and books over the last three decades. His work has been shown in galleries and on the web. He is a past President of the Photo Imaging Education Association and currently serves as Consultant to that group. Currently Stan is teaching a variety of workshops on Cape Cod and in Texas.

     Stan holds the BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology and the MS from TAMU-C. After a 30-year hiatus Stan has moved back to his childhood home in Brewster.

Ray Guillette

     Ray has been photographing since he was a child, whose father had a strong interest in photography. Creativity has been one of Ray’s hallmarks, and his scenic photography is not only beautiful, but also really moving. Fortunately, the numerous productions Ray has created have been seen throughout New England, with a broad audience in the attendees at NECCC getting to experience the personal awe and joy of an extraordinary photographer. Ray’s years as a pediatrician have given him an insight into what makes children so endearing, and his “kid” photographs are delightful and unique. Marathon races are another of Ray’s favorite subjects, and his photos, again, are filled with soul.  An avid film photographer, Ray admits only to having “gone digital” by way of having a cell phone with a camera component.

Ray is a cofounder of a Film Photographers’ Assn., current President of NECCC, and a published photographer, lecturer/teacher, presenter, and judge, known throughout the eastern states.

Gail Hansche Godin

Gail is an award-winning nature photographer with a special passion for birds. She is a member of Merrimack Valley Camera Club, Mass Camera Naturalists, and the NECCC equipment committee. Her work has been published in Massachusetts Wildlife Magazine, National Wildlife Magazine, and The Nature Conservancy and Mass Audubon Connections. Gail has won numerous awards in international photography competitions, and she has presented multi-media programs to a variety of audiences across New England.

Jake Mosser

     Jake Mosser is a serious amateur and semi-professional who has been obsessed with photography for the past 30 years.  He has earned top photographic honors from the Photographic Society, the New England Camera Club Counsel, and the Greater Lynn Photographic Association for both his skills with the camera and his efforts on behalf of the photographic community.  Jake is most at home in the field with camera in hand, but he finds great satisfaction in teaching the techniques and vision he has learned through experience and the kindness of other sharing photographers.

Susan Mosser

Susan Mosser has been involved in photography at the organizational level since 1978. She is the long-standing chairman of the Greater Lynn International, America’s and possible the world’s largest single division PSA-approved color slide exhibition. She has served as program chairman for the Photographic Society of America, the New England Camera Club Counsel, Yankee Photographic Society, and the Greater Lynn Photographic Association, and has been President of all except PSA. For her dedication to photographic organizations and for her success behind the camera, Susan was awarded a "Fellowship" in the Photographic Society of America and was made an "honorary" member of the New England Camera Club Counsel. Susan has organized and led photo-safaris to Africa and across North America. Her eye for an image has earned her four stars as an exhibitor in PSA color and nature slide exhibitions.

Sarah Musumeci

     Sarah is an award-winning and published travel and architectural photographer, with Boston Magazine, Yankee Magazine, New England Travel and Life, Peterson’s Photographic Magazine, Cape Cod Travel Guide and more to her credit, including 14 covers. Her images have been displayed at the Arthur Griffin Gallery in Winchester. Sarah has judged for local clubs, NECCC, and PSA International Salons.

Shiv Verma, MNEC

     Shiv has been photographing since he was a teenager, and has an intense devotion to wildlife and nature. He devotes much time to formally reviewing photography-related products and to education in digital photography. Shiv belongs to multiple photographic clubs and associations and serves as Vice Chair of PSA nature division, Director of the slide instructional and essay sets for PSA, and Vice President of the Digital Circuit for NECCC. He is also past President of Stony Brook Camera Club and the Gateway Camera Club. Shiv is a sought- after speaker, and a well-liked judge for photographic competitions.

Ken Wiedemann

     Ken became interested in photography in his early teens, where, under his father’s tutelage, he learned to process black and white prints, and was helped to develop his compositions with his dad’s suggestions for technique, lighting and subject choice. As a member of Stony Brook Camera Club for over 30 years, he served as Vice President, President, and Black and White Print Chairman. Ken has been extremely successful selling his work through stock agencies, and has been published in numerous venues such as magazines, post cards, calendars, brochures, etc. He has to his credit Vermont Life, Country, and New England Living magazines. Ken has also judged extensively throughout New England and was selected to be a member of the Judging team for the annual Kodak/Boston Globe Photography Contest. Ken has taught photography courses and served NECCC on the equipment committee. NECCC has also awarded him their MNEC (master member) designation.
